Richard William Long

By happenstance Joe and I enter the U.S. Air Force together on Feb.14,1967, we went through basic training  at Lackland AFB,Texas. Having a schoolmate and fellow Coral Park grad. was a big benefit to me, Joe was a quiet even keel soul which made this hectic time seem like no big deal to endure. After finishing basic training we parted way for our different tech. schools but I always remember this period of time I got to spend and really get to know Joseph beyond just seeing him around at Coral Park High School. I always hoped we'd meet again at some future point and mull over our time together back at Lackland but alas this wasn't meant to be. I was totally taken aback that Joe didn't get many more years to spend here on Earth because I'm sure he would have done some wonderful thing. Sincerely Richard Long,

P.S. Miss yah Airman Bishop everytime I hear the offical United States Air Force song (Wild Blue Yonder), it always makes me think back to our beginning at Air Force Basic Training and how you were able to help me get through it.
